Star Wars Battlefront 3? Excuse me?! | Battlefield One Podcast
T
10:30TomHOST
So this was all the news was happening early in the week.
T
10:35TomHOST
So it was first mentioned that DICE and Bungie are fighting for the rights to make Battlefront game, because Lucasfilm Games, or Star Wars, whatever you want to call them, Lucasfilm, yeah, they want another Battlefront game.
T
10:56TomHOST
because i guess they see how their games are doing so they do they did star wars speed racer it's called speed racer right whatever the racing game is doing well the jedi games have been doing well there's another star wars game came out ah um star wars um that tactical game that uh it's not bad company zero company here we go zero zero star wars zero company it's a strategy game and it's been doing really well so a lot of games have been doing really really well when it comes to Star Wars, and I can see Lucasfilm is like, well, can someone make Battlefront? Because, hey, we want money.
T
11:34TomHOST
Hey, we want good marketing for the franchise, because franchise is now doing pretty hot right now.
T
11:42TomHOST
So I'm like, okay.
T
12:49TomHOST
And it's been almost 10 years since that game came out, so it's been 9 now.
T
12:54TomHOST
Nine years since that game came out and we never had Battlefront 3 because EA lost the rights to make that game.
T
13:02TomHOST
Now, years later, Lucasfilm finally realized like, okay, who wants to make it? Who has the capability to make a good Star Wars Battlefront game? So, of course, they went back to DICE and Bungie or DICE, whoever makes it, I think DICE is the right studio to make this game.

N
42:49NoahHOST
You should, yeah, because he tells it differently in there for some reason.
N
42:53NoahHOST
So what he says, I think, you know, he saw Tron, and at some point, I think after making The Brave Little Toaster, he pitched the idea of making, like, CGI movie to Disney at least that's what he says who knows but like based like what he specifically says in that documentary is that the executive looked at it and they're like well the only reason we could use we should use CGI if we can do things faster and cheaper and then they walked off and then that was it or something so supposedly that's why he got fired for like pitching a full CGI movie to them And then he went on to kind of work at Lucasfilm a little bit and then founded Pixar from there.
N
43:41NoahHOST
And then Apple came in and funded Pixar.
J
43:47JacobGUEST
I mean, that's probably more accurate to how it actually went down.

There's been no one for so long.
S
0:06Star Wars TheoryHOST
So if you haven't seen this all over the internet, Star Wars Battlefront 3 has been trending like crazy because apparently there are rumors that Lucasfilm is going to be focusing on a lot more video games, which is great because under EA and under previous leadership, we've really only gotten a few games out of the last 14 years.
S
0:22Star Wars TheoryHOST
And if you look at the old LucasArts compared to the new, you can see that the old one was putting out a lot more content, a lot more video games.
S
0:32Star Wars TheoryHOST
And really out of that we only got Jedi Fallen Order that was kind of like the only good one.
