All right.

It was the second largest battle of the Civil War.

In three days of fighting, and folks, think about this, because the town I grew up in, Lebanon, Missouri, at the time when I was a kid, had a population of about 10,000.

It's about 15,000 now.

So it's a good-sized town.

Millsap's on, the town's awake.

Downtown Lebanon starts to shake.

Here in Lebanon, we believe local matters, and that includes your internet.

So what happened is July 5th.

We were leaving our house early in the morning, around four o'clock in the morning to drive to camp in Lebanon, Missouri, where our kids had been going to a Christian camp for, it was their eighth year to be going there.

Malaya was going to be a counselor.

She was all excited to be having her little campers.

And when we talk about those bridge and connecting issues, it does unify all.

us across the state, because if you're in Kansas City or in Lebanon, Missouri, health care is inaccessible and too expensive.

If you're in Stockton, Missouri, or if you're in Lafayette County in Higginsville, higher education is still very expensive, just as much as it is in Jackson County.

So I think when we talk about the issues and we redirect everything back to those issues, again, my number one priority is economic security and stability, followed by a strong, smart military that doesn't waste our taxpayer dollars, smart investments into our future, and last, giving an America that young people can believe in again.

Welcome to another edition of Community Needs from the Lebanon Area Foundation brought to you by Lebanon Now.

Today we are focusing our conversation on an incredibly important, vital topic, men's physical, mental, and emotional health.

Our community has experienced profound heartbreak recently, losing beloved neighbors, friends, and family members to suicide.

These painful losses remind us just how crucial it is to break the silence surrounding men's mental health.

Recent data from the Lebanon Community Health Needs Assessment shows that our local area consistently experiences suicide mortality rates that sit higher than both the regional and state averages.

Tragically, in line with wider historical trends, men in our community are approximately five times more likely to die by suicide than women.

Taking care of your health means looking at the whole picture, building physical strength, finding a supportive community during life's hardest transitions, and knowing exactly where to look for professional help when handling a mental health crisis.
