That she started her career with Babyface and LaFace, that record group, coming off as a light-skinned Black lady.

What? Cosplaying as Black and singing music that was Black.

And then once she got big, she switched to that Pink music that you're used to.

Okay, so for my Label 1976 Music Spotlight, I wanna do something a little bit different because, um, I wanna talk about Pink a little bit Now, with Pink, I used to be a huge fan because whenever her first album came out, That Can't Take Me Home, in 2000, um, no skips, no skips, and it was on LaFace Records, and Kandi from Xscape wrote majority of that album.

So after that album, it was pretty much like Pink had started, uh, she disbanded from LaFace and she started doing more like, uh, rock, rockish kinda stuff, rock pop, and, uh, you know, doing backflips and Cirque du Soleil and all that kinda stuff.

And it kinda threw me a little bit, but I still felt like, uh, she still had good music and everything, but something just never sat right with me from how she switched up.

but there wasn't.

It wasn't told to me like it was, like, LaFace Records or something like that, right? So they said, "You gotta drop your, uh, your CD, your demo off to YabYum Entertainment." I was like, "Okay.

Well, great.

Sounds great." So I just, without thinking that it was, there was sort of, like, any Babyface involvement, I just dropped it off there.
