The most notorious torch singer in town.

Selfish.

That was an understatement.

That's me.

If this is the last song I'm ever to sing for

you...

But no one could have known that by the time they met again, he would look like, and maybe even be, a different person.

More on that next week, on the penultimate episode of The Bisexuals.

That's

Hello, and welcome to Molly World, a podcast about America's friendliest and most walkable neighborhood, Hollywood Boulevard.

I'm your host, Molly Lambert, and today my guest is Karina Longworth, the incredible podcaster and host of You Must Remember This.

And we'll be checking out the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, a famous Hollywood hotel.

This is great 'cause I feel like we're in somebody else's idea of what Los Angeles is like.

It's good.

It's written by Karina Longworth, who's a film historian.

She's married to Rian Johnson.

Um, but she hosts the You Must Remember This podcast.

Um-

Okay

... and Karina Longworth reads the audiobook herself, so it's kind of just listening to, like, a 27-hour version of the You Must Remember This podcast.

Okay.

... incredible.

He's doing, like, almost, like, the Karina Longworth approach with his monologuing about-

Oh, wow

... every Hitchcock movie.

And we welcome a special guest at the end.

Please stay tuned for critic turned podcaster Karina Longworth.

Yeah, that's a very fun discussion.

So I hope you guys listen to that.

Yeah.

And it has that sense of the world ignoring something that's going on right next door.

So Ryan introduced Karina Longworth.

Karina Longworth's must-listen Hollywood podcast, You Must Remember This, has for the past 12 years, which is crazy because I think I've been listening to it the entire time, taken audiences under the forgotten and often seedier surfaces of Hollywood with entire seasons devoted to filmmakers like John Huston and Alfred Hitchcock, but also actresses like Jane Fonda, Gene Seberg, production designer and Peter Bogdanovich whisperer Polly Platt, 90s erotic thrillers, gossipers Luella Parsons and Hedda Hopper, and dead blondes like Jane Mansfield and Marilyn Monroe.

I'm sure the FBI dossier on her is significant to this day.

And Karina Longworth's fabulous podcast, You Must Remember This, did a great season on Jane Fonda and Gene Seberg and talks a lot about the kind of constant surveillance that Fonda was under during this time for, you know, Just daring to be a pacifist and wanting to support the troops in Vietnam.

It's anti-government.

Well, the FBI full of notably cool and chill people who, even in the movie, they are shown to be total squares.
