The problem is that his philosophy, his mentality, taking it kind of play approach every game the same way approach every game you know with the same attitude same mentality like that's all fine and dandy but sometimes for certain games you need to turn it up a little bit you need to put some extra juice into it and rivalry games that's what and especially this rivalry game specifically for how much it means to to both sides you know kansas and missouri you need to put a little extra juice into it.

And you see K-State do it when they play KU.

I think you see Missouri do it too when they play KU.

Sometimes I don't know if that same juice is there from the Kansas sideline.

I mean...

This game against Arizona State coming up in London is going to be absolutely massive.

You get a bad Middle Tennessee team, but then you're going to get Utah and K-State.

So if you lose to Arizona State, you're staring down the Baylor, potentially starting the season 2-4.

But things work out for a reason.

We're talking to Gary Spaney, who is a College Football Hall of Fame linebacker, unbelievable dominant player at Kansas State University when the offense couldn't score.

There were a lot of zeros in games that he played for the Cats, and he held the other team down and grew up and played in Manhattan High and then on to the Kansas City Chiefs as the all-time leading tackler.

But today, one of the reasons why I wanted to talk to you is you mentioned we're talking about Colin Klein being the new head coach at Kansas State.

When it comes to the Chiefs, we're on the same side.

K-State, you're neutral in all of this.

KU fans, you can't tell me you don't care about this.

You care about this game differently than you care about K-State.

You care about this game differently than you care about Iowa State or any of these other games because you know what I'm saying is true.

If you talk to somebody long enough here in Kansas City, I can tell you who cheers for Mizzou.

I can tell you who cheers for K-State.

You certainly know who cheers for Kansas.

They're an annoying group of people.

Lovely.

Kansas won five or fewer games from 09 all the way up until 2022.

You still haven't beaten K-State.

I don't care what you do.

It means a lot to a lot of people.

I don't feel anything close toward K-State as I feel toward Mizzou.

I understand people who didn't grow up on the state line, maybe people who grew up in Topeka or somewhere closer to central Kansas might feel stronger hatred toward K-State.

But for me, it's always been Mizzou.

It's always been the historical context of it.

And, I mean, I don't know, when I think about Mizzou, where I grew up, I didn't grow up near the state line like you did, right? I grew up south of Topeka, and whenever...

I would talk KU stuff.

It was mainly like KU and K-State fans.

I've been to Colorado.

I've been to K-State.

I've been called some of the worst things in the books by fans.

So, you know, it makes me go out there and play better, and it makes me look back at them in the fourth quarter because after we beat the brakes off you, I want to see your face.

Hang on.

They're going to be a dog against K-State as well, and he's yet to beat either Missouri or K-State.
