Kaiser Aluminum

I'll give you one example which might strike many people ostensibly or at the beginning as being value neutral or maybe worse.

Um, we had occasion involving a company called Kaiser Aluminum, which went into bankruptcy about 20 years ago.

And in order to come out of bankruptcy, they had to satisfy their workforce, the United Steelworkers, because they had promised in a collective bargaining agreement to provide retiree medical benefits to the retired steelworkers, but they didn't have the cash.

So to come out of bankruptcy, what they had to do was agree to transfer nearly 60%, six zero percent, of the reorganized company into a retiree medical fund for the employees, and we were selected to manage those, those shares of stock of Kaiser once it was a public company again.
