So much respect for him.

But but he was the leader of InterVarsity and he recognized as he kind of looked to the right and the left of his leadership team, they were all in a similar demographic and they started the process early.

And I thought that was so helpful.

And I think for most people, we start too late thinking about succession plan I just so respect they started early and started these cohorts and groups and mentoring and really creating a culture of succession planning.

Had he not done the work before, I think that would have been a very different transition.

But because of the work that was done before, even though he had no idea there was going to be an abrupt and immediate transition, I believe the organization was ready and prepared.

And Tom Lynn is the president of InterVarsity and continuing to grow a vibrant ministry.

And so I think for me, the takeaway from Alec is you and I don't know how long we have in our role.

Well, in 1980, actually it was in the early 80s, a man named Gordon McDonald, he was a well-known Christian pastor.

He was a president of InterVarsity Fellowship.

He was a well-known author.

Before speaking engagement at a college campus, somebody asked him, you know, if you had a weakness that Satan might try to exploit, what do you think it might be? And he had responded, well, all sorts of ways, I suppose.

I felt like God was speaking to me that I'm calling you as a missionary to America, a country that has been founded on nothing less and nothing more but the gospel, but how we have drifted away.

So I started traveling, started speaking for Campus Crusade, now called Crew, in college campuses, also for InterVarsity, speaking in high schools, in churches, in community events.

And beyond my wildest dreams, God has taken me to the nations of the world.

And I've given me an opportunity to speak to millions of people in live audiences and challenge them through my story about what you started off earlier, that there will be that appointment every human being has to keep.

A Christian student ministry has taken SUNY Broome Community College to federal court, alleging the Binghamton Area School refused to officially recognize the group unless it let non-Christians lead its prayer, worship, and Bible teaching.

Beckett, a religious liberty law firm, filed a lawsuit on behalf of InterVarsity Christian Fellowship earlier this month, arguing that SUNY Broome's demand allegedly violates the group's First Amendment rights.

A hearing on InterVarsity's request for a preliminary injunction is expected this fall.

The lawsuit alleges the college told InterVarsity it could not keep a statement of faith in its constitution, but could not, that it could keep a statement of faith in its constitution, but could not require its own leaders to actually believe it.
