Hoosier Racing Tire

Uh, we had...

We were on a Hoosier deal where we got a certain amount of Hoosiers e-, uh, each month or each year or so.

I think it gave-

We had to keep that undercover.

Roger announced that they were going to be mandating the Race Saver right rear only starting in June of 2027.

The other three tires could be open to previous approved tires, which basically includes Hoosier.

um and then on um there was quite a bit of backlash on social media um as you kind of would have expected i know when we i talked to several drivers on championship saturday at eagle they were pretty frustrated by it um and um On Friday of the Nationals, that late afternoon, Race Saver, their Facebook page is Race Saver Enterprises, but it's basically the Race Saver Tire Facebook page, said that they're going to be keeping the two-tire option.

They're going to remove the mandate for Race Saver tires on right rears only, and we'll go back to what they had been using for the last couple of years, which basically means you can either use Race Saver tire or Hoosier tires, Um, I don't honestly know the rule, like the back of my hand.

So I don't know if like continental can be used, or I think there's a couple of other tire manufacturers out there.

Like all, I think all stars, another one.

I don't know if those are available, but all I ever see is race saver tire and Hoosier.

So those are the only two I know of.

This is the tire company that is trying to compete with Hoosier.

They have announced that effective June 1st, 2027, Race Saver Enterprises right rear tires will be mandated for all Race Saver drivers and cars to Again, starting on June 1st, the other three tires are able to be chosen as other producers, but the right rear must be the Race Saver right rear tire.

And it is the, I believe, Generation 2 tire that they're planning on using for that June 1st.

If the tire company could have survived that long, it's again, a lot of what I've been focused on in my life for the last year is rather than getting mad at a situation, try to put my, my feet in the shoes of the, of the person that's making the decision and just try to think way outside of the bubble of what would make them do this.

I don't know if race saver tires is, is having issues.

Um, and the fact that they're waiting nearly a year, I mean, what we're probably talking eight or nine months out to make this mandate, um, gives me a hint that maybe it's not, but if they're not selling tires for one reason or another, whether the tires aren't good, the drivers don't like him or whatever, then the competition against Hoosier goes away.

And everybody can understand this.

Really? I think they own that and what, Poskey's, Poskey's Performance Parts? Yeah.

Yeah, they're, I think they're like Hoosier Tire or Ohio Valley or something.

Yeah.

I mean, they got a pretty big operation up there, quite honestly.

With all that being said, here is Steve Mill on what it was like for him as Roush Racing was getting started.

Mark was driving that Busch car with Hoosier Tires' help, and they kept it just ab- I lived, like, seven miles above Level Cross, and the shop was, like, three miles above Level Cross.

So I'd go by and see Mark and see what's going on, 'cause I had a lot of respect for Mark.

I, I thought he had what it took.

Yeah, well, we expected that.

So they're working on the tires, and Gary Putnam, he said that better grip leads to faster cars early in the runs, more tire fall-off, and in theory, better racing, which kind of was what the Hoosier tires did, but...

I don't like Hoosier tire, so I got to kind of stick to my guns.

But he said, it's in a better spot today.

We've been working closely with American Racer to provide a better tire combination-wise.

Yeah.

Yeah.

And to be fair, Hoosier had the same problem a couple years ago, too.
