Personalities of the franchisee.

Do you know the disc personality of each franchisee? When I was a franchisor and I knew the disc, I knew the value of a disc profile for years before I became a franchisor at We Buy Ugly Houses.

And when I looked at the personality of our top franchisees, it was dramatically different from the personality of the bottom 10%, 20% of our franchisees.

At the time we had about 260 franchisees.

You guys remember those signs around town? Yes, of course.

Well, on Wednesday, September 23rd, 67-year-old Charles Carrier was sentenced to 188 months in prison for his role in a multi-million dollar real estate investment fraud scheme.

So that was the scheme? Well, he was using their brand to defraud 80 victims out of about $40 million using We Buy Ugly Houses.

And from at least 2018 to 2024, he solicited funds from investors falsely claimed their money would be... used to acquire and renovate residential properties.

He's doing all the, everything, the door knockers, bandit signs, the callers driving for dollars, mailers, just the tried and the true in the real estate world.

And we started running Google ads and the thing at the time where Google, I think, really proved a lot of merit was all of the home investor money, We Buy Ugly Houses, radio, television, newspaper, all of that funding generated awareness and it created a market.

But what people had yet to really understand, and they understand it really well now, but I mean, this was years ago.

I sold the business in 2019 and we were in business for seven years.

Nobody goes to the website.

They just Google it.

And so if they just kept saying, we buy ugly houses, we buy ugly houses.

And so people are going and they were Googling, we buy ugly houses.
