And so how do you manage that and maintain pricing and those types of things? That's something that I feel many of the European brands, or I should say non-US brands, Was there a lot of brands not selling because of that? Right.
ChrisGUEST
40:02
So most notably, I would say Hanhart, our friend Andy's watches, released a video and it's kind of gone pretty viral.
ChrisGUEST

I've

And then showing them to people and having people be able to really take the time, try them on, talk to the people and really get that sort of the message across.
NachoHOST
27:30
I think the final one that I'll give a little shout out to was from Hanhart, the 417 ES.
NachoHOST
27:34
Yes.
NachoHOST

which is a collaborative model with Ciro 260 and Bait, which is kind of a nice reinterpretation of the 417 chronograph with a sort of different kind of an Art Deco, like Bauhaus-y numerals.

And I'm just trying to think, uh, MBNF was there with the mad three and wind up and they were MBNF at watch time, which is quite interesting.
Balazs RenziHOST
18:10
Um, Hanhart also for the first times I've seen them a few weeks ago, of course.
Balazs RenziHOST
18:13
And, um, I realized that they also were at a wind up, um, which is also cool.

Laco from Germany.

But as you can see in the movements, they make mostly manufacturer movements for other brands.
RalphHOST
54:29
And there's now companies, the smaller ones like Hanhardt, Okanoska, Full & Merry, right? Yeah.
RalphHOST
54:38
And there are big ones like Tag Heuer and Bremond and Norkain and some other big brands that are actually using Breitling, of course, that are using AMT movements now as manufacturer movements that are made especially for them with certain specialities that are just exclusive to each of these brands.
RalphHOST
55:03
They seem to have not just taken on all of the, you know, ETA supply of the SW range, right? But they actually have gotten so good at this kind of business.

King of cool
Ariel AdamsHOST
63:34
... for a lo- nu- yeah, king of cool, uh, bought and wore for himself for a number of years a Hanhart, and, uh, they decided to do a limited edition.
Ariel AdamsHOST
63:44
Uh, he wore it in multiple movies, I think most famously in the movie Bullitt, and so this limited edition has a strap which is meant to sort of replicate, uh, the strap, um, that Mr. McQueen wore.
Ariel AdamsHOST
63:58
Again, he personally chose it and wore it, and it's very well documented.
Ariel AdamsHOST
64:01
Uh, what is interesting is that the origins of his actual Hanhart are totally unknown.
Ariel AdamsHOST
64:07
No one has any idea where Steve McQueen's actual Hanhart...
Ariel AdamsHOST
64:10
His family doesn't have it.
Ariel AdamsHOST
64:12
No one knows where it is, so it's this lost thing.
ChrisHOST
69:30
[laughs] Uh, but yeah, uh, what are your feelings on this one?
ImanHOST
69:33
Do you know, it reminds me a lot of the Hanhart.
ImanHOST
69:37
I would always opt for a Hanhart over, uh, this if I'm going chronograph.
ImanHOST
69:43
Uh, yeah, I, I think it just looks like watch to me.
ImanHOST
69:46
Like, you know, it's a watch.
PeterHOST
34:21
Okay.
PeterHOST
34:21
So the next watch we're looking at is the Steve McQueen Hanhart limited edition.
PeterHOST
34:26
Um, Chris, I'll let you start on this.
PeterHOST
34:28
What do you think?
PeterHOST
35:09
Built as a tool watch for precision, it couldn't have been more suited.
PeterHOST
35:13
It couldn't have suited anyone better.
PeterHOST
35:14
This limited edition reflects the special connection between Hanhart and McQueen, a piece of history on the wrist.
PeterHOST
35:20
300 pieces worldwide, 39 millimeter in case armor, just like the historical original.
Balazs RenziHOST
12:15
Yeah.
Balazs RenziHOST
12:17
Hanhart chronographs, right? Historically, you know, Second World War, yeah, questionable history, but it's part of the history.
Balazs RenziHOST
12:25
And then Bundeswehr watches.
Balazs RenziHOST
12:27
When they do these divers and whatever, it's also not really their thing.
Mike StocktonHOST
13:04
Okay.
Mike StocktonHOST
13:07
So, well, interesting.
Mike StocktonHOST
13:10
So you've got a piece of news you shared with me before you talk about your Hanhart trip.
Mike StocktonHOST
13:15
Why don't you talk to me about how someone believed they could fly?
Mark StoneHOST
35:58
I mean, it's quite interesting is that.
Mark StoneHOST
36:00
But one thing I do know, one watch I intend buying... is I've always liked Hanhart which was I've always been told it was the watch Steve McQueen to return to him he wore those by choice but that is a retro watch I mean is there still a market for retro watches I personally have a watch that's based on a 1930s design a zenith pilot And I think that's stunning.
Mark StoneHOST
36:29
Is there still the liking for retro, or do people, especially people into motorsport, prefer modern watches or modern-looking watches?
Hamish RobertsonGUEST
36:40
Oh, there's a huge market for...

Whether it's, as you say, people like Hanhart in Germany making watches inspired by aviation themes from pre-war um whether it's people reissue restarting defunct brands that were popular in the last century with updated materials but identical aesthetics then you've got
