Green Ronin Publishing

So I don't really know.

I always like the Freeport stuff by Green Ronin.

And there's also the Razor Coast, which is for Pathfinder 1, I believe, or maybe D&D 3.5.

But if you can find the Razor Coast, it's also a really nice, more Pacific-type pirate adventure.

not to be confused with Black Library, their fiction on.

And that was in collaboration with Green Ronin, the D20 company.

And anyway, long story short, too late.

They did a second edition, which was fairly short-lived, I think.

So we got that made up.

And then at that same time, like, well, you know, I've been doing a lot of D&D art illustrations for Green Ronin.

What if we pitched to Green Ronin to do a Spacious Observer role-playing game? And they said, yes, we've actually been thinking about like branching out and creating our own kind of like new interesting concepts.

So they basically published the book.

warren who's the guitarist from the band and i wrote the bulk of the uh the rules and the text and everything and uh and we kind of traded off on the art uh work as well uh because he's also an artist um but uh great stuff and uh yeah and so that guy so yeah so it won an any award It won a Silver Annie for Best Independent Role-Playing Game.

note to Green Ronin, that should be put on DriveThruRPG for print-on-demand like yesterday.

This is not a clips episode, I swear.

Uh, we talked about Paizo and Green Ronin Press, uh, had some of their stock tied up with, uh, Diamond Distributors, who were a distributing company that went out of business, or they went bankrupt rather.

The stock that Paizo, Green Ronin Press, and others, uh, had with Diamond was on consignment with the vendor, which means that the distributor hasn't paid them for the stock.

They're kind of holding onto it for them, and then the publisher gets paid when the stock gets sold by the distributor.

So the distributor doesn't own the stock that they have.

Having stock on consignment is obviously a, you know, a, a publisher has finances tied up in that stock.

They're relying on that selling 'cause they haven't made their money off it yet because they haven't sold it to a distributor.

And when Diamond went bankrupt, obviously companies like Green Ronin Press and Paizo and others have a bit of a financial hole where this stock was meant to sell and it has been tied up in lawsuits for the last, I think, 18 months at this point.

Oh, that's nice.

Um, and I've done freelance work for Pelgrane and Green Ronin and-

... um, Wizards of the Coast.

Yeah, so the update the other week, as you may recall, was that a settlement had been reached.

And that Paizo and Green Ronin were getting their stock back, along with all the comic book companies and everyone.

So just to remind everyone, Diamond Comic Distributors are a distributor.

So what happens is publishers send their stock to Diamond, then Diamond goes and sells it on to game stores.

They're kind of the middleman in this.

What happened was lots and lots of comic book companies and other stuff, but also a couple of game companies, Green Ronin and Paizo, He used Diamond.

Sent their stock, and Roll for Combat, sent their stock to Diamond, as usual, and this is on consignment.

So when you send a stock on consignment, you still own the stock.

But it's not just Wizards of the Coast, right? Pokemon, even though it's a Japanese company, most of their employees are here in the state of Washington.

You also have little smaller companies that kind of feed into this, like Paizo and, um, Green Ronin and, and, and Kobold Press.

So all these little smaller companies that are a part of this.

And then on top of that, the synergy that happens with the digital gaming side of things.

And yeah, author approved and everything.

And it's based on the Green Ronin is publishing it.

So it's based on their age engine, their adventure game engine.

Yeah.

I don't know.

Sure, in our modern time, the sort of sanity thing is maybe somewhat dated, but I know that Cthulhu Awakens by Green Ronin kind of tackles that true knowledge or knowing the truth in a different way, as does Delta Green.

So both good games based on Call of Cthulhu, right? So...

I really enjoy Delta Green as well, and that gives almost an existential dread, and playing a campaign would be amazing.

Well, they finally came to an agreement to where they could get all that back.

So it wasn't just Paizo, but like Green Ronin Publishing and a bunch of others were finally able to like get their unsold stock back.

So more than 1,200 new titles included in the deal.
