J
0:12James ShillinglawHOST
And we're here to talk about a pretty big issue, is travel really making a difference? And, uh, G Adventures says it's time to prove it.
J
0:21James ShillinglawHOST
And so we're gonna talk to, to, to Jeremy about this, about, uh, ex- exploring such concepts as community tourism.
J
0:29James ShillinglawHOST
Uh, I love you guys are always creating new names.
J
0:34Jeremy BradyGUEST
[laughs]
J

And Project 300.
J
0:35James ShillinglawHOST
Uh, that's the G Adventures goal to uplift 300 communities through tourism by 2030.

How an Organized Adventure Finds Its Traveler with TourRadar
D
44:53Dan ChristianHOST
Well, so it's interesting.
D
44:54Dan ChristianHOST
I just did a spotlight episode with G Adventures.
D
44:56Dan ChristianHOST
Obviously, G Adventures is a big partner of yours.
D
44:58Dan ChristianHOST
And obviously, I used to work at G.
D
45:00Dan ChristianHOST
And they've just entered sports tourism with their Away Games product.
D
47:55Dan ChristianHOST
When I mentioned that you're across B2B and B2C, it is really important because one of the things you work closely with us with is understanding the questions.
D
48:02Dan ChristianHOST
Obviously, I griped a little bit about the hotel example, but these are the things you would tell us that you're hearing from customers.
D
48:08Dan ChristianHOST
So you have your ear to the ground on B2C, and it's one of the things I'd always encourage new team members joining the Travel Corporation or G Adventures.
From Mabel’s Labels to Mentoring Founders with Tricia Mumby
T
39:07Tricia MumbyGUEST
I think the travel industry does a really good job.
T
39:09Tricia MumbyGUEST
Like if you land on Viking Cruises, if you land on G Adventures, if you land on Intrepid, they're always face forward.
T
39:16Tricia MumbyGUEST
You immediately know, oh, I don't want to go on a trip with that lady.
G
39:18Greg BoydHOST
Right.
Multi-Day’s Time To Shine with TourRadar
T
5:18Travis PittmanGUEST
We've stayed very focused on the multi-day side.
D
5:21Dan ChristianHOST
Well, and the one thing for our listeners, too, when I mentioned the background between Travis and I not only being great friends and colleagues, but when you look at that 16 year history and where I was at the time, I was at G Adventures when Travis and the team were launching.
D
5:33Dan ChristianHOST
And at that time, companies like G Adventures, Intrepid, those kind of soft adventure travel companies were really starting to come into their own.
D
5:41Dan ChristianHOST
But they were companies that were doing 50, 100 million.
D
5:43Dan ChristianHOST
Now they're billion dollar companies.
D
5:45Dan ChristianHOST
And they're surrounded by other large multi-day tour companies as well, because after working with Travis and the team very closely at G Adventures, we spent the next decade working closely together while I was at the Travel Corporation working across brands like Trafalgar, Insight, Contiki, all brands that have been a core part of the TourRadar platform.
D
6:03Dan ChristianHOST
But TourRadar has more than 50,000 adventures with 2,500 operators.
D
6:07Dan ChristianHOST
So that gives you a scale.
Evolution of a Gardener - Rebecca Davis Scott , Green Thumbs Growing Kids

That was totally what I wanted.
R
4:48Rebecca Davis ScottGUEST
Um, in 2016, I moved to the city with my then boyfriend, now husband, and, uh, got a job at, uh, got my dream job really working at an adventure travel company called Green, uh, G Adventures, and, uh, met amazing friends there, lifelong friends there.
R
5:05Rebecca Davis ScottGUEST
We're still friends.
R
5:06Rebecca Davis ScottGUEST
And, uh, it was, uh, it, it was just everything kinda came together.
Heading to the Poles: Season 8 Begins with Quark Expeditions
D
9:20Dan ChristianHOST
And I should note to all of our listeners that Max and the team are Toronto-based, but it's a global business.
D
9:25Dan ChristianHOST
And what's interesting when Max mentioned that, because there was my time at G Adventures.
D
9:28Dan ChristianHOST
I know G Adventures is one of the big clients at Sherpa, and then we obviously brought it on at the Travel Corporation, expanded it across all of our brands.
D
9:36Dan ChristianHOST
So I've known Max for many years.
D
9:38Dan ChristianHOST
I was very optimistic about his technology because nothing like that existed, the idea of visas, and it's something we're gonna talk about in our report, but the complexity that is involved in traveling and taking the hassle out of the complexity of, uh, as, as more and more countries are introducing e-visas and working with a company like Sherpa.

Pe- people are drawn to a culture that is keeping high standards and doing a great job.
S
54:54Sam SewardGUEST
So that was, yeah, that was very clear.
D
54:56Dan ChristianHOST
The connection between a company like G Adventures that has the expedition ship that kind of decided to also add in expedition cruising, and just to see how popular this segment of travel has become.
