It's a company called Frontier Developments.

It's the game studio behind Planet Coaster, which for the uninitiated is Rollercoaster Tycoon, but new.

Planet Zoo, which is a similar thing, but you build a zoo.

Slightly technical, but genuinely important change buried here.

The UK has swapped over its video games tax relief system, moving from the old video games tax relief scheme to one called the Video Games Expenditure Credit.

Without getting too deep in the weeds, it's actually more generous to a studio like Frontier, and it's now counted differently in the accounts.

So it's as income rather than the tax credit, which is part of why some of these profit figures look a bit better than they did the previous year.

And then lastly on our lineup this week, Scott Gustin had posted over on X that Frontier, the developer behind Planet Coaster, a roller coaster tycoon, has announced a new collaboration with Disney to develop and publish a creative management simulation game based on Disney IP.

Okay, that's cool.

Yeah.

No specific Disney property, release date, or platforms have been released.

But...

I was not familiar with Frontier or Planet Coaster until Kevin mentioned Roller Coaster Tycoon.

And I love Roller Coaster Tycoon.

If everyone's cool with that, we'll just jump straight into that.

So this week's discussion topic, I'm calling Frontier's Six-Step Plan for Failing Upward into Community Engagement.

And their solution this week appears to be creating the greatest gold rush in recent elite history again, only at half price.

So welcome to Gold Rush to Palladium Boogaloo.

The short version is that Frontier launched community goals intended to compare traditional asteroid mining with the new Rhino surface mining system and gave the relevant commodities enormous price multipliers at the CG station in Iga.

That's a UK mobile developer formed by Space Ape Games employees, and no financial details were disclosed.

Uh, Frontier has, uh, seen adjusted operating profit jump 62%, it's another UK team, to 21.4 million pounds.

That's for its 2026 financial year.

The highest in the company history, actually.

Unfortunately, Not cheap anymore.

And another one I'm kicking myself, but I should have bought this last week, not three years ago, was Frontier Developments.

They've just come out with great numbers, beat forecast, special dividend of 14 PS share.

The thing's up 19% in your face.

Yeah.

I'm just for listeners.

I mean, it's interesting because I've dabbled in a couple, not necessarily a frontier developments game, but these kinds of environmental games where you go and build a castle, say it took you five days to build a castle.

And so you're incentivized as a player to spend a little bit of money so you can speed up that process.

More exciting than years past.

And, uh, in other Disney news, we've got, this is actually a video game topic here, but Frontier is working on a simulator game with Disney.

If you don't know who Frontier is, they are the people that make Planet Coaster, which is probably the most relevant, popular, um- ... park simulator game that's out right now.

Um, uh, some people would argue Rollercoaster Tycoon.

I'm more of a Rollercoaster Tycoon guy, but I realize that, um, Planet Coaster is probably the best when it comes to most recent awesome games.

This is pretty cool.

Disney announced a new game collaboration with Frontier Developments, the studio behind Roller Coaster Tycoon 3, Planet Coaster, and Planet Zoo, fueling speculation about a Disney Parks Tycoon-style game.

Both companies have confirmed the partnership, but have not shared any further details.
