So it's good to have someone here.

Um, but Chris, talk to us a little bit about, you know, when you were in finance and did an MBA and then you went to Foursquare.

Foursquare is an interesting company to me in terms of, you know, thinking about a company that was super interesting at the time, had a really interesting app, and I was always surprised that it didn't scale and go further than it did, and I wonder if that had to do with, like, the issues Pedro and I talk a lot about, data, privacy, location data, or whether it was something else.

So can you talk about, like, your, you know, what moved you to go work there, and then what was the experience like?

So w- while I was in business school, I was just really fascinated in more entrepreneurial things, and I was really fascinated with, we used to, this is, I'm dating myself here, we used to use terms like Web 2.0. You guys remember that?

[laughs]

Like, I, I was so drawn to all the things that were going on.

F- Foursquare was one of the internships that I did in business school, and they did catch lightning in a bottle for a while there.

I was in my early 20s.

And while I was there, I saw all the cool things they were doing with Facebook and Foursquare at the time and Twitter.

And that's when I realized I wanted a career in social media, but my background was finance.

Around that same time, I met Stephanie, and she also was passionate about social media and wanted to start an agency and essentially convinced me to work with her full-time on the side.

The very first popular geolocation systems were just coming out.

So Foursquare, which is ancient now, so people were tracking where they had been.

And courtesy of 23andMe, you could even spit into a test tube, mail it back to a lab, and log online to find out more about your own DNA.

People had begun thinking about themselves and their behaviors as data.

Like no one had any idea what Yelp was.

They were just like, oh, is it sort of like TripAdvisor or Foursquare? Remember Foursquare?

Oh, my gosh.

Yeah.

Yeah.

They were

like, is that like Foursquare? I was like, I don't remember what Foursquare did.

But I was like, well, we had our way of handling that.

There was a moment in time in our youth where w- Yelp was v- heavily utilized.

I think it was like Foursquare and Yelp, like review culture was like a big thing.

And everyone was much more of an active participant.

But Emira doing this as an alter ego is so funny to me.

That's right.

Maybe we can check in on Foursquare.
