The Florida Department of Transportation has a huge, it's called design and build.

It's been going on for the last eight years where they're really expanding the highways here because... 40,000 people come through this main, this corridor in Miami.

It's where 395, it's where 836 and 95 come together.

You know, you talk about the FDO.

Let's talk about FDOT.

And the reason why I bring this up, we had Governor Ron DeSantis on the show that we did in Floribama.

And we were talking about the flock cameras.

There's 149,000 flock cameras, 150,000, whatever, in 49 states.

And Governor DeSantis said he wanted them off our FDOT roadways.

A lot of law enforcement want them.

Carmine, what do you say to folks who say it's a Fourth Amendment violation, but you also need them.

I don't.

But nevertheless, he comes out and against flock and the florida department of transportation revoked all of the permits for flock cameras in texas again not a place that i necessarily equate uh with a lot of like respect for civil liberties and human rights they also just like halted state funding for alprs so we're seeing a move things start to happen we are seeing people start to push back and eliminate this specific technology whether we apply that to the next technology technology is really up to the public

Do you think our relationship with tech has changed? It used to be exciting.

It used to be sexy.

... from, uh, the intersection about 700, 800 feet to the west, and then it turns into city.

So we're also having to permit, um, all these improvements through FDOT, so they are very much advocating for the safety improvement because they know that adding another turn lane, any, uh, any, anybody trying to go maybe northbound and get in that left turn lane, it's gonna be a, you know, a, an issue.

So at least this gives them a little bit more of a maneuvering of a proper turning movement to, um, approach, uh, the intersection.

So that, um, is, uh, something we're working with.

Florida Acquisition is on board to do a temporary construction easement because, um, as I said, we're not, we're, we're not r- um, proposing any right of way acquisition, but there's might be some, knowing how close we are to that property, there might be a little bit of overlap with the construction.

So a temporary construction easement will be in place, and we will continue to, um, continue on with the permitting process with FDOT.

Yesterday, three of the migrants filed a class action lawsuit against DeSantis in his official and personal capacity.

The lawsuit also targets Jared Perdue, Secretary of Florida Department of Transportation, and several yet to be identified defendants who were in direct contact with the migrants.

The lawsuit alleges that DeSantis and his accomplices executed a premeditated, fraudulent and illegal scheme centered on exploiting the migrants for the sole purpose of advancing their own personal, financial and political interests.

The lawsuit also contains explosive new allegations about the lengths that DeSantis and other defendants went to manipulate and deceive the migrants.

Before we do that, I just wanna be able to say, there are so many good things happening in Jacksonville, and there are so many opportunities to see art in all the places.

And when we look at Murray Hill, and we look at the underpass, and the partnership we did with FDOT, and being able to look at all these really intentional activated spaces, I just wanna encourage everyone to lean into, like, things like Art Bike Jax, where you can ride on electric bikes and experience lots of art pieces you may or may not have had.

And not every public art piece is owned by the city, but there's definitely a lot of public art to be experienced and no shortage of competent and incredible local artists.

And we've been able to raise the percentage of the ordinance to 57% of it being local artists here in the northeast region, and then almost 80-plus percent being Florida-based.

The case has sparked major regulatory changes across Florida.

On August 31st, the Florida Department of Transportation revoked permits for license plate reader systems within state highway rights of way, ordering their removal within 30 days.

Finally, in North Carolina, state investigators have solved a nearly 50-year-old cold case, identifying skeletal remains discovered in a wooded area on December 29th, 1977.

The remains and clothing were found near a former Firestone plant in Wilson.

Every single permit has been revoked.

Now, the Florida Department of Transportation is also no longer issuing any future requests for these license plate reader systems.
