But outside of events, inside of the shop, we have had some pretty incredible pieces come through that I just want to talk about a little bit because these are watches that I think they have a very specific audience, which means we don't get to talk to people about them as often.
D
6:26Devin PennypackerHOST
And I think about, you know, we had the Richard Mille RMO3 come through, the Cartier crash, a crazy Royal Oak, FP Journe that recently walked through here too.

R

Rolex made this watch for the person who enjoys the brand, whose taste level might have elevated a little bit.
R
12:14RioGUEST
They didn't make this for the person who's who's trying to get their first Patek, get their first Lange, get their first Dave Baton, get their first FP Journe even.
R
12:24RioGUEST
This is for the person who already in love with the Rolex brand and then they wanted to expand their palette a little bit.
R
12:31RioGUEST
This is not for the guy who is trying to compare this to their Lange.

But let's get into it.
D
7:10Dave SharpHOST
Who's bought them or who's bought 95% of them? That is a collaboration between FP Journe.
D
7:17Dave SharpHOST
Yes, you heard right, FP Journe and Chanel.
D
7:20Dave SharpHOST
Probably not the two brands you were thinking we were going to say who have bought out 95% of this from Movado for 66.5 million US dollars.
D
7:31Dave SharpHOST
They missed a trick.
D
8:39Dave SharpHOST
During the quartz crisis, they also produced huge numbers of quartz watches.
D
8:43Dave SharpHOST
interesting to see what's happening here.
D
8:45Dave SharpHOST
I've got my thoughts about what I think's going on, and I think this is beginning to be a bigger shift within the industry, especially some of the more powerful independent brands, your FP Journes, your Cartiers, your Chanel's, your MB&F's, and lots of others.

And again, don't be put off with the fact that it's a quartz number.
R
33:29RickyHOST
The fact that these do not have a second hand... means that you don't obviously see that quartz tick that gives the game away but then again the game away we mentioned earlier on FP Journe other brands Cartier big on quartz Oyster Quartz back in the day with Rolex it's not the bad word it used to be and a little bit like the collector's journey where people think Rolex are the best thing in the world then they find Seiko 5 then they find Audemars Piguet they find MB&F and then they circle back and go yeah Rolex aren't that bad actually you know this is the case with quartz and I don't mind wearing a quartz number it is brilliant as a fire and forget but You don't have to have it in a watch winder, which I have my reservations about anyway.
R
34:05RickyHOST
Mentioned that before.
R
34:06RickyHOST
I think this is great.

I want to give you the small version first because I think the small version is true here.
W
13:37WachowskiHOST
Some years ago, I had an FP Journe on my wrist, a Chronometre Souverain, which is in Journe's taxonomy, the entry point of the catalog, the watch that says, here's the movement, here's the finishing, here's the pink gold plate, and almost like nothing else, an hour hand, a minute hand, small seconds, time, stated as simply as Journe knows how to state it, which is still one of the most beautiful statements in the room.
W
14:02WachowskiHOST
Now, this watch wasn't mine.
W

I just put it on.
