How much money are we talking about here?

Uh, well, it would vary, uh, depending on the riding and how much was spent on getting them elected, and this is all very verifiable and audited by Elections Canada.

EDAs, uh, electoral district associations, are reimbursed from Elections Canada.

Uh, I believe it's at a rate of roughly sixty-five percent of the election spend, up to a cap, and then what we're looking for is just the net money that would be out after a campaign.

So if after a year they decided to cross the floor, become an independent, if the difference between what we receive back from Elections Canada and, and, uh, what was actually spent was, say, fifty thousand dollars, well, then they would be on the, on the hook for fifty thousand dollars.

Out of their own pocket 'cause it's o- obviously already been spent, right?

Uh, well, you know, honestly, honestly, [laughs] I, I don't think we're as concerned of where that money comes from.

And it's not like it's out of the ordinary for elections agencies to, you know, to say to government, we did not have enough resources.

Elections Canada just essentially said that when they didn't have enough resources to get to keep their polls open in rural areas and not rural areas, but really remote areas of Nunavut.

And they fucked it up royally in the Nunavut seat in the last 2025 federal election.

And they wrote a report saying we fucked it up royally.

So what we know so far is from Ian Patton, who has said that he has been approached by the RCMP to discuss an allegation that he made about being offered a cushy job in exchange for stepping down as an MLA in order for Carolyn Finley to run in his riding in a by-election.

There was one accusation about an Elections Canada investigation against Carolyn Finley that was ongoing with some issues around financing in the 2025 federal election, which Carolyn Finley had lost.

Which she denies, we should say.

And so there seems to be this legal element as well of things really coming down on Carolyn Finley's leadership.

And the Conservatives went from holding a riding for eight years to getting 12.5% of the vote.

And if the Conservative candidate had scored just a few hundred votes lower, they'd be under 10%, and the party wouldn't get its 60% of expenses rebated from Elections Canada, which would have been a complete embarrassment.

But 12.5%, I think, is an embarrassment for Pierre Poliev and the Conservatives.

You mentioned Kathy Wagonthal.

I'm going to reach around and, and toss him on the ground.

But the reason we put him up is because, um, Stephen Gilbo finally told elections Canada that he was resigning, right? He announced his resignation way back.

I think it was in, uh, Was it October last year when the first MOU was signed? Yeah, I think it was October, November.

So as soon as, you know, when Carney and Smith signed their first MOU, he got upset.

contested a little harder and it ended up being a true vote split, whereas the Bloc and the Conservative split and the Liberal got in.

So that temporarily gave Carney back his majority, like ever so slim, right, 173.

And then just to be, I'd say, just in character, Stephen Gilboa, went to Elections Canada and said, I resign effective the 31st, which kind of dropped Carney back to, don't quote me on this, maybe somebody can comment, but I think he's down to 172.

So I don't think there's a majority for the Liberals at this point.

For a little while this week, some Canadian websites displayed the name Lake America on the maps embedded in them.

Scotiabank, Loblaw, even Elections Canada.

It wasn't the organizations doing, and the labels have been changed back to Lake Ontario now, but across the U.S., Google and Apple Maps will go along with US President Donald Trump's executive order to change the name to Lake America.

The decisions by Google and Apple prompted widespread backlash across Canada and made MapQuest the most downloaded app in the Apple App Store in Canada.

Well, I mean, actually, it's probably on random media outlets now.

But if you go on Elections Canada, you can see the exact numbers for each one.

Very, very instructive to have a look at the extent to which the Liberal Party reigns supreme in this country.

I mean,

To call that a failure is a gigantic understatement.

That is cataclysmic for the Conservative Party.

And when I saw that result, when I looked on Elections Canada, I almost couldn't believe my eyes.

But when I saw that and realized it wasn't a typo, 100% of votes counted.
