We've seen plaintiffs, largely NGOs, experiencing some success challenging broad corporate claims, such as claims regarding companies' plans to get to net zero.

For instance, in June twenty twenty-one, a nonprofit called Earth Island Institute filed a complaint in DC Superior Court alleging a beverage company's portrayal of itself as sustainable and committed to reducing plastic pollution were misleading under the DC Consumer Protection Procedures Act.

And their argument there was that the company was taking no active steps to achieve those goals.

Uh, the plaintiff challenged a series of claims, including, among others, a sustainable business webpage, statements on social media that the company was focused on scaling sustainability solutions, and statements in its sustainability report, including that the company was working to build a more sustainable future.

I pay them.

So all the grants that I bring in, a certain percentage goes to Earth Island Institute as our fiscal sponsor.

And they're like our backbone 501c3 that we operate under.

So they take care of like filing with the IRS and all of this accounting stuff.

Huge.

Yeah.

Earth Island Institute has been around for years, too.

They've been a very well-established working on a lot of different plastic pollution coalition been involved with them.
