E3G

E3G is an independent think tank working to deliver a safe climate for all. We drive systemic action on climate by identifying barriers and constructing coalitions to advance the solutions needed. We create spaces for honest dialogue, and help guide governments, businesses and the public on how to deliver change at the pace the planet demands. We are experts on climate diplomacy, energy policy and sustainable finance. E3G builds cross-sectoral coalitions to achieve carefully defined outcomes, chosen for their capacity to leverage change. E3G works closely with like-minded partners in government, politics, civil society, science, the media, public interest foundations and elsewhere. We currently have offices in London, Brussels, Berlin and Washington DC. The core of our capability lies with our diverse, experienced and creative staff. E3G’s founding directors have a unique experience working on energy, environment, security policy and diplomacy challenges in the UK Foreign Ministry, Prime Minister's Strategy Unit and as senior political advisors. E3G was founded in 2004 to address the challenge of how to deliver transformational policy change. Our experience has been that the main obstacles to sustainable development lie not in a lack of analysis or available resources, but in the silo-based nature of institutions and decision-makers. We, therefore, work to align politics and policy to leverage strategic outcomes. E3G is established in the UK as a not-for-profit company limited by guarantee. E3G maintains full independence in all its activities and is funded by a mix of foundations, government bodies and NGOs. E3G is established in Belgium as a not-for-profit association (ASBL) and in Washington as a private company with 501c3 tax exempt status.www.e3g.org

This is a moment where the government should be spending more money on the warmer homes program, but tragically they're talking, or rumors are talking about in the budget, they're going to be cutting money for warmer homes program at the exact moment we should be insulating our homes, creating jobs.
Zack PolanskiGUEST

In fact, the think tank E3G just released a report a couple of days ago that showed whereas Jackdaw will only create 27 full-time jobs, if we actually insulated the homes, invested in heat pumps and the just transition, we could be creating at least 50,000 new green jobs.

So again, the decisions the government could be making are clear and at every single crossroads, they're making the wrong decisions.
Laura WebsterHOST

So it's obviously a reserved issue, and this was a decision that came from the UK government.

And that's, again, something we'd urge the government to look at, because we have to look at how do we bring down the cost of electricity even further.
Simon FrancisGUEST

And I think there's a report out in a couple of weeks from E3G, the think tank have been leading on putting together, just looking at literally all the things that you could do to bring down the cost of electricity.
Simon FrancisGUEST

And some of that's levies, some of that's solving the debt problem that we have, because There's a bad debt allowance already on our bills.
Simon FrancisGUEST

If you get rid of that, it brings down the cost of bills for everyone.
