Brian Caleo here, Director of Dykema's DSO Industry Group.

Unfortunately, I'm joined by Matt McGaugh.

I tried to find a replacement.

And we've been going back and forth by email.

We had a chance to talk a little bit at Dykema.

First off, let's start with some introductions.

Brett, a little bit about your background.

And it's like, how have we never heard of you? And they're still being started.

Yeah, and they're still being started right now.

You know, there's... there's friends that are putting together practices and saying, hey, let's put together our practices, let's go to Dykema, the legal, you know, the law firm, not the industry event, but let's go to Dykema, let's put together our practices, let's create a shared structure and an organization, and then let's have a new emerging DSO.

So that's still happening.

Let's, let's figure out what's happening operationally.

So the signal that, um, that we're hearing certainly, and, and this was a big theme, uh, coming out of Dykema, was, uh, the movement towards this super vendor feel.

And so here's where this is coming from.

I really think this is more of a symptom of a deeper issue.

It was Brian Kaleo.

You might know he works with Dykema.

He's actually an attorney.

And then Dr. Peter Bolden and Dr. Craig Spodak, the guys who do the Bulletproof Dentist podcast.

It's a good podcast.

I like both of them a lot.

They were having a heated argument with a guy by the name of Brian Kaleo, who is like the head guy of Dykema, which is a law firm that helps put DSOs together.

It's sort of a I argue I don't know that you could call them a DSO law firm, but that's a lot of what he does.

So take your stupid appeal and shove it.

Maxwell could ask the Second Circuit Court of Appeals to review Engelmeyer's ruling, but that is a request, not a surefire opportunity to be heard, said Mark Chutkow, a former federal prosecutor now practicing white-collar defense at the firm Dykema.

Ordinarily, you either have to get a certificate of appealability from the trial court that denies your emotion or your petition, or you can get it from the appellate court, he said, noting Engelmeyer did not grant such a certificate.

I would assume what she's going to do is seek a certificate of appealability from the Second Circuit.
