Ducks Unlimited Canada

And here in August, I just completed my 30th year of service with Ducks Unlimited.

Most of that has been here in the U.S. with Ducks Unlimited Inc., but I spent about 13 years with Ducks Unlimited Canada.

Um, so yeah, the, the primary things that I work on now, it's, it's sort of a diverse role.

I do some work with our conservation staff really across the prairies of Canada and the U S to help ensure they're making progress as much as possible.

And then out west, Dr. Dan Smith, Waterfowl Scientist from the Western Region of Ducks Unlimited.

Uh, we also have Dr. Matt Dyson with Ducks Unlimited Canada, uh, Taylor Finger with Wisconsin DNR, and Dan Smith with Ducks Unlimited out in the western region.

And then lastly, given those changes in recreation behavior, we asked how does that affect recreation economics? There's a lot involved there, but to estimate the changes to wetland area, for instance, we relied on the dissertation research of a co-author, Jim DeVries.

He was a longtime employee of Ducks Unlimited Canada.

And through his work, we posited four scenarios, a business-as-usual scenario that simply extrapolated current wetland losses in the U.S. And then three increasingly negative scenarios based upon higher losses that we observe in Canada that would be expected to perhaps occur in the U.S. in the absence of Waters of the U.S. protections.

The wetland losses that we posited were fairly modest.
