Dry July Foundation

I was so upset with myself and he could obviously see how much it was affecting me.

And bless him, he suggested that I do Dry July.

And it sounds like such a simple suggestion now, but I honestly think that moment changed the trajectory of my life because it introduced something I hadn't really considered properly before that I don't actually have to drink.

And I know that sounds so obvious, but I guess when you're 22 or 23 and all of your friends are drinking and Every social event revolves around alcohol.

Not drinking feels like this massive thing.

And I remember thinking, what am I going to do on weekends? Am I still going to go out? Am I still going to get invited to places? Are people going to think I'm boring? Am I wasting my 20s? What am I supposed to do at a party sober? But anyway, I did dry July and I can't remember exactly how long I stayed sober for after that.

I definitely eventually did go back to drinking, but something had shifted and I started to really question my relationship with alcohol.

Then 2020 happened.

I love how like I considered for like a split second doing Dry July and now it's just fully gone out the window.

So I was planning to do Dry July and then we're doing a photo shoot out on Chacoal for the winter menu and then a Negroni came up and I was just like okay yeah I'll try it and then I forgot that it was the 1st of July halfway through.
