Dorset Police say they're investigating a fight at Pitcher's Bar at Shaftesbury Football Club in the early hours of this morning, Saturday 12th September.

Officers received a report just after 1am that two men were fighting.

One of the men sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.

Alfred, listeners have told us that two ambulances attended the incident.

Dorset Police say an investigation is underway and inquiries are continuing.

They stopped the vehicle at the roadside and it was later loaded onto a recovery truck and taken away.

Dorset Police can now deal with suspected drink drivers more quickly using a new breathalyser that gives an evidential reading at the roadside.

Until now, the roadside test suggested somebody was over the limit, but they'd normally have to be taken to a police station for a formal test.

During that journey and the time spent waiting, the body would continue processing the alcohol, so the eventual reading could be lower than it was when they were first stopped.

He says drink driving remains one of the fatal five road traffic offences.

Since the beginning of 2023, 113 people have been killed or seriously injured in collisions in Dorset where alcohol impairment was a contributing factor.

Dorset Police says it's one of the first forces in the country to use this new breath testing equipment.
