I really wanted to go to investment banking.

And so I worked in between my summers of HBS at Dean Witter Reynolds doing special situation assignments for the executive committee.

And I had the opportunity, anyone who got a job at the investment banks this summer, I think there were 20 or 25 of us, had a lunch club where we got to meet the head CEOs of Goldman, like Weinberg and Whitehead.

We got to meet Dick Jenred from DLJ.

Eventually, you land in corporate security.

And by 1985, you're working for Dean Witter Reynolds, soon to become Morgan Stanley.

Your office is the World Trade Center.

Um, you need to, you need to start thinking about establishing credit because your business has never had any credit." So and I just, can you talk about how your, your work at American Express led you to understanding how you can, how dentistry can think about this differently? Is did it have play a role? 'Cause I think it, it must have played a role somehow.

It absolutely played a role, but it actually started at the beginning of my career when I was with a firm called Dean Witter Reynolds, which was based out of San Francisco.

Um, and I was working primarily with doctors within surgery centers and, and, um, you know, there were a lot of dentists in that mix that kinda got attracted to what we were doing from, um, the periphery.

And since then, because of the state of where dentistry is today, that's my primary focus.

We, we look back, I mean, there's a, w- we're invested in companies we already d- dig, dig back in the archives to find historical financials, 'cause we're regularly looking as far back as we can find data, 20 years at a minimum, to find out, what are the basic business fundamentals of these companies, and how do they perform in tougher environments? Because we wanna know as business owners, which any shareholder is, how a company will perform and how it will withstand some tougher environments, when and if they come.

What I like about, um, Molly is she started her career at Dean Witter Reynolds.
