and the Womack sisters starting off that set from their self-titled forthcoming album on Daptone Records coming out in a few days on August the 14th.

That was their tune called If I Let You.

Moving on now to a track by the Bobby Lyle Trio on Electric Bird from 1987.

And before that, we did hear a couple of tracks off the new Shaka album.

First up was Curious Subject, then we had Dreamy Stuff, and then from the Womack Sisters, we had Shafua and... didn't mean much to me and the Womack sisters are on the Daptone label so it looks like they may have another big act that will sort of replace the fact they lost Sharon Jones sadly way too early due to cancer so hopefully Daptone are going to be back on the selling a good number of records very soon with the Womack Sisters.

Let's just go with a track off the new Prince album.

Good to have the three important new albums the last few weeks, Shaka Khan, the Womack Sisters and Prince.

And yeah, joining with the Brazilian arranger extraordinaire Arthur Veracai with this beautiful track.

And there's a collab album due out on Daptones on the 13th of November.

And then my really good friend, Jessica Lipsky, who is a writer, a journalist on the scene, literally wrote the book about Daptone.

Just every time I would see her, yo, you need to be listening to Alton Ellis.

You need to be listening to Phyllis Dillon.

I did it as a joke when I was writing the song with my friends in New York.

My friend Benny Troken, he's on Daptone, but he was in Charles Bradley's band and now he plays bass in Spoon.

And he has a band with a bunch of my friends in Brooklyn and they were home.

So I was like, let's get together at your rehearsal space and we'll just write for an hour together.

Before that, you had a very recognizable voice if you've been listening to Modern Soul in the last 20 years.

Charles Bradley and the Bullets here on Daptone, records from all the way back in 2004.

The track is called Now That I'm Gone.

Speaking of the Daptone Records label, pulled out the Jalen Naganda Victor Axelrod track, All About Me, on the Daptone Records label.

Now, that track there is called Laughter and Tears.

Happy birthday, by the way, to Mikey Post from Daptone Records over there.

And kicking off that trio there, Layla Hathaway and Jay Ivy, who's also been on some great records over the past couple of years.

That's a new track from her, and that one is called 47th Street.

because they have each other.

Now they've found a kindred spirit in producer Bosco Mann and a label home at Daptone Records, who share their commitment to a sound and recording philosophy that many might assume is a thing of the past.

Not only is it alive and well, but the Womack sisters are proof that if you can hold on to your visions and dreams long enough, and especially if you have a sisterhood, anything can happen.

We are so thrilled to celebrate their triumphant self-titled debut and welcome the Womack sisters as this week's sheroes in the spotlight.

So they're another in my ongoing Daptone record series, another Daptone, which I didn't realize initially.

So just to my, but it makes sense that like These Sacred Souls came up because Daptone has carved out its own very distinctive place in the music world.

So we've done a series, we've probably done at least half a dozen different But I was aware of them for quite some time.

I previously heard a few songs and always enjoyed everything of theirs that I'd heard.

And these, the Womack sisters definitely had that.

So they started, you know, breaking out on their own and doing their own thing.

Now, as fate had it, 2016, they were introduced to Gabriel Roth, who's the co-owner, co-founder of Daptone, and started making their own records gradually.
