Dalmore Distillery

Yeah.

Um, and I just heard, like, Richard Patterson just, uh, he has a quote in, and I was just-- we talked about it on our, one of our latest podcasts with the Dalmore.

He's like, "If you're, if you're using the cask to just get the sherry extraction," he was like kind of saying-

Yeah

But two of my favorite whiskeys out there are cigar blends.

You know, this one and the Dalmore, you know, which which when I'm grabbing Dalmore, if I if I'm not spending big bucks.

That's my go-to for Dalmore.

Cigar Blend has been up and down over the years.

This most recent one has been excellent.

Just the initial reaction to really see and explore what that whisky is all about.

Because if you're... having friends around, you're sure to say, well, you're pouring a 25-year-old Dalmore or a Bunnahabon or what have you, or a Bowmore.

You know, there are many different styles of whiskey, so your expectations should be there already before you even taste it and swallow it.

A wee Bunnahabon here.

But the formulations that were built up there, yes, it has changed because We get William Grant, fantastic Glenfiddler, coming in in 1964, really advertising their Glenfiddler as a single malt.

And people started to say, OK, there were other companies.

Dalmore has started way back in the 1880s, you know, 1870s to Australia, et cetera, et cetera.

But there wasn't that sort of...

Now, there are places like Scotland that use E-140A caramel coloring to darken their whiskeys.

Now, why is that? Why would they do that? Well, because a 12-year-old Scotch over there, let's say, let's use Dalmore to throw them under the bus, right? Dalmore is almost clear because they used used oak.

And so the amount of wood interaction, yes, even though it's 12 years, the wood has given up a lot of its flavor and a lot of its color to the previous spirit that was in it, more than likely a bourbon or a sherry or whatever, right? So whenever you put the new spirit in there, which is clear, right, when you put that new spirit in there, it only takes so much of that away.

So what they will do is, and they think that that makes it, and I don't want to put words in their mouth, and Delmore, I would love for you guys to come on and tell me your side of the story on this.

But, you know, we could get support from, say, a larger distillery, get economies of scale.

So one thing we do struggle a little bit with, because we are so small, we have the same costs as potentially in some areas as Glen Ord down the road and Dalmore along the coast.

So, yeah, we just need almost somebody to put their arm around us and go, let us help you.

And we are open to that kind of

So I joined White & Mackay just over four years ago.

Definitely a longer finish, which I like.

This might be, this might jostle Dalmore 12 off my top spot as far as like the Highlands go.

I'll give this one a 4.4 out of 5.
