I got to play most of the hotness and really liked them all.

Drillers by CGE is a really good, I'm gonna say variant on Clank, with a pick up and deliver with a time pressure, really fun.

played Grey Loon, which is a redo of Adia's older game, Spirium.

with a fantasy kind of theme on it.

Again, designed by James Newman, published by Edition Spielweise.

Lastly for me, Mark, I got to play the big game that's out right now from CGE that is called Drillers, designed by Roman Bednar and Adam Spendl.

And you do what it says, Mark, you're drilling.

You have this giant neck.

Game of the Week Do you ever intentionally break your usual tabletop buying habits for variety's sake? That's what I did with SETI, Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence, last year when I got it from Czech Games Edition, the publisher.

My groove over the past few years, in case you haven't noticed, is middleweight, historical conflict, and Ameritrash games.

Keeping a light game around as a palate cleanser, right now that's Cartographers.

New facts had to be forced in with an auger.

Just the same, I set that motherfucker up on the second solo difficulty level.

A set he plays with up to four, but because it's the law now, Czech Games Edition also joined the elegant Atoma Arms race and made a simulated opponent for me to play against.

When you're playing on difficulty level 2, you have to launch enough probes and crunch enough data to outpace the dummy player, and that means knocking down a stack of tasks that you have to complete during your turns, or you get penalized, either for points at the end of the game or you, uh... during the game speeds up the Atoma's acquisition of more powerful action cards.

On the 15th of August I hosted a Games Day at Gaming Rules headquarters and I actually spent most of that day teaching people how to play Kingdom Come Deliverance, the new game from CGE which is going to be coming out at Essenspiel this year.

I have a prototype copy of the game and I taught a load of people how to play and then played it and yeah.

I've talked about this game a little bit already.

But yeah, it's great.

Now, why isn't there a playthrough of this on the channel? A lot of people are...

not happy about the fact that CGE have got this game up for pre-order.

I played a monster-esque adventuring game.

We're hoping to finish it up soon.

We actually just left it out so we could keep playing because it's pretty quick.

But CGE just does such a great job layering with their games.

They know what to add for an expansion.

First up is Drillers.

Drillers is a game from CGE, best known for, I guess, a lot of great games these days.

Lost Ruins of Arnak, of course, is probably one of their biggest well-known games, but they're pretty well known for doing... really solid quality Euro games out there.

Now, this game, and again, we've talked about this twice already, so I don't want to go into too many details.

Oh, yeah.

Which is, uh, the new CGE solo and competitive game.

Uh, I had played this at a buddy's house, but copies have been hard to come by, and they were like, uh, CGE lately for a lot of their things, their games, they aren't sending review copies first.

They, like, tend to sell out with retail and only, like, the big, big review channels get copies early.

Which is fine, I mean, that's, you know, totally their prerogative to do that.

I think you'll enjoy it quite a bit.

Uh, so Drillers is a deck builder.

People have compared it to Arnak because it's CGE and it's a deck builder.

board game adjacent here, which is, you know, I'm sure you've seen the big news a couple months ago about Czech Games Edition releasing the board game version of Kingdom Come Deliverance as this huge, very large box a lot of people are excited about.

Very

expensive.

Um, kind of like, I don't know, it, it, it feel, it feels arbitrary and laborious to me.

[laughs] Uh, I, I've played a few of them and I was like, "Ah." The, the one, the one multiplayer solo mode that really impressed me was, um, uh, Ruins of Arnak by CGE.

Uh, minor follow-up, we were talking about titling episodes in a previous title games...

Sorry, we were talking about titling games, and you were like, "Never do blank of fantasy world." And I was like, "Oh, Ruins of Arnak." That's the, like, that's the go-to exception.
