interesting.

So, Open All Hours, it sprang from a comedy playhouse-type series featuring Ronnie Barker called Seven of One.

I'm getting worried about Granville.

He's at a fair, fair funny age.

It took a while.

Seven of One, Chris, what do you know about that series?

Oh, God, there were a number of the sort of Comedy Playhouse series, weren't there, with Barker? There were six dates with Barker.

Yeah.

He came in to pick up the show after there'd been a pilot.

So they'd done this kind of series of BBC drama playhouses in 1970, which was a bit like, you know, the Comedy Playhouse thing that they did.

Mm-hmm.

And there was a producer there called Anthony Coburn, and he had commissioned these kind of four dramas.

In drama and in light entertainment, I worked on a number of different programmes at the start of their wondrous series, such as Until Death Is Due Part and Dad's Army.

I worked on all the first ones of those, came out of Comedy Playhouse.

And on soaps like Compact, I worked on all those.

So it grounded me really into what television was all about.
