Colman's

So that's, that's what, that's my first job in London.

Um, and then I, I moved on from there after five years, um, became a head chef for a company called Reckitt and Colman's at Chiswick, um, catering for their, um, directors and their, um, and their staff.

And that was a, a very prestigious job.

And, but in 1993, when I was still in my 30s, late 30s, I was made redundant and was unemployed for, for a few, um, for a few months really.

Um, also with me is Caroline Simmons of Quilter Cheviot, and Douglas McNeill, who's a former chief economic advisor to the ex-Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.

Um, now, one of the stories, Caroline, that's caught my eye, um, over the past couple of days is Unilever announcing plans to sell off its mustard and mayonnaise brand Colman's as it merges with the American spice maker McCormick.

Um, what's the thinking here?

Yeah.

And because they've both got, uh, mustard brands, um, there's a sort of concern that maybe, uh, that would make the merger less likely.

Now, I, I, I...

some members of my family, the older generation, would question whether English, uh, Colman's English Mustard and French's Squeezy Mustard are indeed, uh, the same product.

But that, that aside, um, you know, if they spin out the Colman's, then potentially it makes it much easier for them to progress with their main and long-planned, um, merger of their food divisions with McCormick.

Build-A-Bear Workshop is slumping as Q2 revenue and profitability were impacted by weaker demand and heavier promotions.

And Unilever plans to sell iconic British mustard brand Colman's to alleviate competition concerns ahead of its pending deal for McCormick, which owns French's Mustard.

So to clarify, Unilever is selling an English mustard called Colman's while keeping an American mustard called French's.

American company Kraft Heinz owns UK brand HP Sauce, which is not affiliated with HP Inc., whose shares are down today, and Build-A-Bear has nothing to do with béarnaise sauce.

Looking to the economy, jobs numbers look solid ahead of Fed Chairman Kevin Warsh's Jackson Hole speech on Friday.

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Or Colman's even.

I love Colman's mustard, and I sometimes, like, if I'm making a ham sandwich, I'll, as you said, spread it on.

Yeah.

Waves of mustard.

Anyway.

I'm sure Colman's would cut through all that.
