The ratification comes after tensions between the union and the library reached a point where the workers authorized a strike earlier this week.

Michael, can you briefly talk about the conditions that led to the potential strike at Cleveland Public Library? What were workers in management at a disagreement over?

Well, there were a number of things.

Cleveland Public Library workers avoided a strike after Service Employees International Union Local 1199 reached a contract agreemen- agreement with the library system.

Nearly 400 unionized employees had planned to walk off the job Monday, but the deal was reached just before the deadline.

The company also agreed to hire 500 more tech workers and said it would continue discussions with workers about its potential plan to implement robotic workers and AI in its factories in the coming years.

Workers represented by the Service Employees International Union, or better known as SEIU, and the Cleveland Public Library avoided a strike on Monday of this week, reaching a tentative agreement with less than an hour to go before a strike deadline.

Terms of the agreement were not immediately available.

The workers are holding a ratification vote on the agreement right now.

A representative from Cleveland Public Library said the library's board of trustees will meet at noon later this week for a ratification vote.
