According to the Guardian, Paul Marshall donated £28 million to a mixture of both Holy Trinity Brompton itself and the Church Revitalisation Trust between 2018 and 2025.

The Church Revitalisation Trust is a charity sort of associated with Holy Trinity Brompton which works to support the establishment of similar American-style evangelical churches within the Church of England elsewhere in the country.

And this attempt to bolster a kind of American evangelicalism, which has been going on for like some decades, I would say, within the Church of England is, I always think, another fascinating outcome of the Church of England being the state church, right? In any other context, if you were really into electric guitars and being baptized in a big swimming pool, you'd probably kind of start or join another denomination.

But the Church of England being the state church kind of makes it an institution which is worth winning for the various different factions.
