Megan and another mother, Sheena Hamlin, are now suing the state of Oklahoma.

The Center for Reproductive Rights filed the lawsuit on the mother's behalf on September 16th.

Here we are seeking to block Oklahoma abortion bans, specifically in the context of pregnancies where there is a fatal fetal diagnosis, because That is the situation our plaintiffs found themselves in, but I do think it's important to remember that.

Abortion care is an essential part.

Of maternal health care, and all people should have access to abortion care.

The Center for Reproductive Rights brought forward a lawsuit in 2022 on the issue of abortion care.

The Oklahoma Supreme Court ruled in 2023 that, quote, requiring one to wait until there is a medical emergency would further endanger the life of the pregnant woman and does not serve a compelling state interest.

How do you explain to someone who can't get pregnant how powerful the omnipresent specter of pregnancy is? How the hyper awareness of other people's expectant entitlement toward your body dogs you through every day of your life? Today, in a post-Dobbs world, abortion access varies state by state, and is largely dependent on the whims of federal judges.

According to the Center for Reproductive Rights, abortion is legally protected in 25 states and the District of Columbia, and illegal with few or no exceptions in another 13 states.

Yet another nine states are classified as hostile to abortion.

Individuals are under fire too.

She has led on issues including racial justice, reproductive rights and justice, economic justice, LGBTQ rights and environmental justice.

In the aftermath of the Dobbs decision, she was a senior advisor to the president at the Center for Reproductive Rights, where she led the external relations and

governmental work.

In the spring of 2022, she was a Harvard Institute of Politics resident fellow where she led a study group on dismantling the myths that keep many people out of careers in politics.

The lawsuit is challenging two different abortion bans in the state, including a total abortion ban dating back to 1910.

The Center for Reproductive Rights is the organization that filed the lawsuit.

They brought a different case in 2023 to the Oklahoma Supreme Court regarding abortion care.

The Oklahoma Supreme Court ruled that the state constitution protects the right to abortion in life-threatening situations, but declined to rule whether the state constitution protects a broader right to abortion outside of those circumstances.

Because it's one thing to read an article, but it's another thing to see it happening to somebody.

And so at the end of March, I received a DM from somebody with the Center for Reproductive Rights, and they were like, hey, I'm an outreach person for the attorneys with the center.

We are currently... running this case in Texas called Zyrowski versus Texas.

I think there was like maybe five women at the time when they first reached out to me.

We are anti-war feminist organization, primarily led by women.

How are we in this space going to talk to other women feminist organizations that aren't doing the work that they should be doing? And as an example, the first target that we have is the Center for Reproductive Rights, who was actually just at that big Olivia Rodrigo festival for women.

And they were one of the 10 endorsing organizations.

And they received, I think, around $2 million from that whole festival.

And I felt like the polarity there was so stark because Olivia Rodrigo, who held the festival, she opened up the festival wearing a dress from a Palestinian brand.

But there's groups like the Center for Reproductive Rights, who is one of the main orgs that's getting money from this festival.

And they have been completely silent on Palestinian women.

and the reproductive injustice that they do face.

However, Louisiana has argued that government regulators acted without proper consideration of health risks.

The Center for Reproductive Rights says the case will likely go back to the Supreme Court for a final ruling.
