Carling

I think I'm going to give it a seven.

Because despite my reservations about the apparent lack of character, given what we said earlier about beers that have character, this is no Carling.

This is no Carlsberg.

This is much better than that.

It's not just Campo.

Madri, which is Carling.

I think Cruz Campo actually is a Spanish beer, but I don't know if the Cruz Campo in the UK is actually brewed in Spain.

It's probably not.

or I can have eight pints of lager and lime, if it's Carling or Heineken.

Eight pints.

Or Peroni, I like, the old Italian

But the point of my story is, in not a great pub down in old Stockbroker Belt, I would pay something like, you know, what is it? About £4 for a pint of beer.

Right.

and about £4.30 or something for a pint of Heineken or Carling.

Yeah.

So refreshing and crisp and just nails that lager thing straight off.

Now, talking about lager, there's a very famous lager called Carling.

And they used to do a version called Carling Black Label.

And they brought it back in March.

And we haven't tried one yet.

So I'm interested to see it's going to taste very good after carling i'm sure but i have my own views on beers like this so

we'll see how it goes We've also got Tried and Tested and various other bits and pieces along the way today.

Do you know, even as a teenager, when I used to go into pubs, normal pubs, just pubs, I never went for Carling or Carling Black Label.

And for me, it was the Rumbelows.

But then it was Carling, then the Capital One.

But the Rumbelows Cup, younger people are like, what the hell is he talking about? But yeah, that's what it used to be called, Rumbelows Cup.

Oh yeah, it did, yeah.

So they're that fussy, are they? [laughs]

And Carling doesn't...

Isn't it...

I, I don't know.

He is.

And I think it's nice to have a little bit of that in a, in a, in any pub, um, whether it's crafty or whether you're, you're drinking Carling.

Uh, so yeah, that's all we've got time for this week.

Uh, it's been absolutely joyous to see all the comments on these Kernel videos with people saying, "When I get to London I need to go, uh, 'cause I haven't been." Or indeed so many people going, "I need to drink Kernel again.

Carling Original used to be...

And we're, we're mainly talking about cans and bottles that you're buying from the supermarket, uh, rather than in pubs, although it is affecting pubs as well.

So Carling Original used to be 4% ABV, alcohol by volume, but it's now 3.4%.

Wow.
