Well, it's coming up on four weeks of not being at the negotiating table with the Americans during this ongoing, yes, ongoing trade war.

Is Canada taking the right approach? Ian Lee is an associate professor at the Sprott School of Business at Carleton University, my alma ma- mater, uh, and he is going to tell us more.

Ian, how are you doing today?

I'm doing very well.

That is Ian Lee.

He's not gonna give up telling us that we need to change course as a country here in Canada.

He is associate professor at the [laughs] Sprott School of Business at Carleton University, and we thank him so much for joining us today on The Hub.

Uh, Dr. Steven Cook will be joining us, uh, here in a few minutes.

He, uh, for those of you who may not be familiar with him, a biology professor at Carleton University.

Uh, he's got, uh, over 1,200 peer-reviewed papers.

Uh, we wanna let you know, though, at noon, uh, Ian and I have, uh, Ian Lee, another Ian, Ian Lee, uh, from Carleton University coming on, and he's been dropping truth bombs all over the place, and, uh, he's gonna be on the show with, uh, Ian Burns and myself.

Georgian College in Barrie had the support of a high-voltage transformer manufacturer for its trades program.

An aerospace company liked the aviation offerings at Mohawk in Hamilton, and a tech innovator was behind Carleton University's bids for funding for more STEM degree spots.

In what was akin to a post-secondary version of Dragon's Den, in a new process to allocate forty thousand new spaces in high-needs areas such as science, technology, health, education, and the trades, the province put out a call for proposals from universities and colleges that saw them collaborate with communities before submitting plans to be evaluated by a forty-person ministry team.

Although concerns have been raised about the focus on science and technology over the humanities, the transferable skills taught in those programs that many employers, especially in AI, have said they value.

The stated goal here is to counter what they call the dominance of the United States and China.

globally in terms of security and trade and all the rest of it right so so what would that look like are we again talking about canada joining the eu i don't think so um but as i say carney's scheduled to be in europe to address european lawmakers next week um the european union address they're having a summit next week 16th so uh look for that as the day where we learn more but in the meantime what what can we anticipate Akeem Hurlman is co-director of the Centre for European Studies at Carleton University.
