This isn't to say that a parka or a hoodie wouldn't be able to perform well.

Some of the world's biggest outdoor and exploratory brands like Canada Goose really make a lot of money, millions upon millions in selling these high margin items, but they have optimized their brand towards that.

The question here isn't whether or not you should launch seasonal items.

It's as a startup brand, what should you focus on first? Focus on the product that the customer is going to get the most amount of use out of, which more often than not is going to be your core staple pieces like your leggings, your sports bras, your tank tops, your t-shirts, your base layers, your shorts.

We can use the example of clothes.

Companies like Columbia Sportswear and Canada Goose have been struggling with declining winter sales as the planet gets warmer and are now trying to diversify into summer clothes.

So it's affecting what people do seasonally with their activities, but also consumer spend when it comes to clothing itself.

Yeah, and it's not just what we wear and what we eat.

Tersus CEO, Peter Whitcomb, says more brands are realizing they can sell the same item again.

Other brands in Canada, including Ikea, Canada Goose, and Arc'teryx, have similar programs.
