Bonnier

It rained a little bit during the, uh, evening hours, I remember that.

You know, I was being passed constantly by Matras, and Alfas, and, uh, Jo Bonnier in a Lola, and this, that, and the other thing.

So you had to keep your eyes on the rear view mirror almost as much as you did looking at the, uh, windshield.

And I just remember one time I was c- coming down the Mulsanne straight.

And he came in and he said, "There's been an accident on the far side of the course, so be careful." I got in the car and I came around, down the Mulsanne, around the Mulsanne Corner, and up through the f- there's two fast straights, a right-hand sweeper, then a fast straight, and another right-hand sweeper.

And I think it was at the, uh, exit of the second sweeper, there was a Ferrari GTB that was on fire against the guardrail.

As I found out later, or we all found out later, Jo Bonnier in a Lola T280 or something, which was much faster than a GTB, I guess he'd tried to pass on the inside of the GTB and closed the door or something, and Bonnier's Lola hit the guardrail and literally vaulted up into the trees.

Of course, I didn't find this out until literally after the race, or maybe word started circulating around, I can't really recall.
