Blackbird Studio

So seeing that kind of creative flow was super interesting to me.

I was in London for a year, I left my internship, moved to Nashville, and knocked on Blackbird Studio's door.

And at the same time I got there, they had just started their first ever recording academy class.

Okay, okay.

Well, yeah, it just makes you appreciate what amazing things were created there already, and it's kind of a feeling of gratitude that you're standing in that place and getting to do the same thing.

My band and I went in and recorded last week at Blackbird Studio here in Nashville, and it's the same way.

It's...

You think of all the great records that have been done there, all the great artists who had played there, and the room that we were in was like the room in, in Tulsa, with just an amazing sounding room where it just makes you wanna do the very best that you can while you're there.

So your creative decisions on arrangement, mic placement, or mixing aren't fighting an ugly raw material, but a mic that already plays well with the rest of your soundscape.

Take, for example, the Blackbird Studio sessions for the White Stripes' Icky Thump.
