It makes more than 50% earnings from copper, and copper, of course, has suffered a fall this week off the back of a delay in tariffs by the White House.

So that's BHP, if anyone who doesn't know, that's what BHP is now.

It's a huge mining company.

And his job is picking ore out from the quartz.

New Delhi is aggressively pushing for government to government acquisitions across Africa to secure those long-term supply chains.

Meanwhile, mining giant BHP is preparing for a major leadership transition.

Chief Commercial Officer Rag Ud, who successfully navigated intense iron ore negotiations with China's state buyer, is stepping down this coming January.

Replacing him will be a top priority as iron ore miners brace for increasingly difficult negotiations with Chinese steelmakers in the coming year.

They have more upside potential.

Woolies, BHP, CommBank, yeah, great companies, but they're, they're, they're never going to triple their earnings in a year and they're not gonna CAGR their, their profits at 20% per annum for 10 years.

They're just not, right?

BHP's had a pretty good year.

B- it's had a good year.

The maths just gets you, right?

Conrad might be there And you know, you're, uh, uh, uh, BHP, whoever it is, um, you're sitting there talking about gas.

Yeah.

Your lobby's gonna be there, but you're gonna have Conrad on the other side.

So every quarterly trading update, every result from CBA and the other banks over the next 12 months is really gonna be the barometer of where the economy is at.

I mean, I guess the other sort of giant is BHP.

They're gonna spend, what, $45 billion on copper projects over the next 10 years.

It's gonna be fun to watch how that rolls out.

Uh, BHP, uh, out of New York.

Uh, you like the metals right now.

We talked a little bit about, uh, uh, copper, but this is the play on that.

Uh, this industry went through a horrible bear market for about, uh, 12, 13 years, and during that time, every company rationalized and assets went into fewer and fewer hands.

Uh, and the, the, the, the strongest survived.

So BHP is the large, will be the largest producer of copper in the world this year.

With all that combined, investors marked the share down 1.2% on the day.

Next up, where's my commodity traders at? Copper now owns BHP more than everything else it digs up put together.

The metal brought in a record $18 billion, more than half the earnings of a group that actually made its name in iron ore.

Now the shares hit a record high on Monday, pushing the value of its Joburg listing past 4 trillion rand, up about 50% on the year so far.
