Bézier Games

Yeah, I will say the production's very nice.

It's a Bezier Games, and it's very similar in production quality to Rebel Princess.

It has a little plastic insert in there, or the 3D-printed insert to hold stuff.

And so it was nice.

The Spiel Award does not lie.

While we're there, I got to get in a game of Cat in the Box from Bezier Games.

This is a super fun trick taker that reinforces my utter inability to play bidding games.

Now, I will actually say it wasn't my ability to bid.

I think it's funny.

I talked about this to so many different people, but Jay from Bézier Games says that the most important aspect of a game is the cover and the cover art.

basically how that game sits on the shelf and and attracts a person.

Now, when you don't have that barrier any longer and then all of a sudden a person is forced to try that game, whether they like it or not.

Creatures.

It's a card game from Bézier Games, check.

It has a horror theme, double check.

Scream Campers vs.

I had to reread it a few times, and I feel that it could have been better laid out.

Alright, so that's Scream, Campers vs.

It's a fun card game, and I hope you get a chance to play it.

That is super fun.

And then how did you land on Bézier Games for the pitch and getting it signed?

Yeah, great question.

So as I mentioned, I started pitching the game around in 2022.

It's okay.

Yeah, next time you play, just go for all the games for other publishers that you know and games that you like and maybe that'll be the best strategy for you.

It's exciting, though, that Bézier Games felt comfortable and confident that they would be able to reach out to all these other publishers to bring these game covers into the game.

What was the process like for that?

Yeah, I don't typically like to call out single games in a question like that, but within the last four months, I had a turning point, and that was with GameMakers.

When I unboxed GameMakers from Bézier Games, designed by Ben Rossett, and One, it took up a full Kallax cube.

Two, I wasn't quite sure I was actually going to get it to fit on my board game table.

Yeah.

Now the next game that I played that I want to talk about is another one that I was paid to create content for.

This is The Game Makers from Bézier Games and this is my first sponsored content from Bézier Games.

I've had a relatively good relationship on and off with people at Bézier Games over the years, asking them occasionally for review copies of games, meeting them at conventions, etc, etc.

But I've never actually done any paid work for them.

So they contacted me, wanted me to cover the game makers.

But yeah, I'm glad that games like this exist because certain people will want that big table presence.

And I don't know if there's going to be another crowdfunding campaign for it because this is not a game which is ever going to be available at retail.

I believe you can get it from Bézier Games, either from their website or at conventions, but it's only available to backers of the game.

So in this, there's going to be a lot of first thoughts, and I want to call them out because we're going to spend a little more time on the first thoughts game.

Starting with Cat in the Box from Bézier Games, which is a really fascinating trick-taking game.

We played for the first time with the kids at a brewery called Focal Brewing Company.

Then we played it at Springwood, actually using their copy from their game library.

And you spend a lot of the time planning where to build into and which order so you can pick up the cubes and grow your business as efficiently as you can a- and make the most profit.

If you're playing solo, there's a, there's a couple maps that bring solo out of the box Uh, by Bezier Games specifically.

And there's some solo rules available online that you could find that let you play pretty much any map solo.

Uh, really fun.
