Attorney General Paxson agreed with the federal government and settled the case, ending the policy.

Advocacy groups, Austin Community College, and a student later sought to intervene and overturn that judgment.

A divided Fifth Circuit panel rejected their appeal in July, finding the tuition policy created a disparity prohibited by federal law.

The groups then asked the full court to rehear the case.

travis county no doubt about it yeah he says austin taxpayers have seen their average tax bills go up about 1500 bucks since 2023. now this tax increase could be attacking on another 50 for the average tax bill but on top of that you got the city of austin taxing uh you know additional 400 bucks The proposed bond package in November that's going to raise your taxes to Travis County, the Austin School District, Austin Community College, Capital Metro Board of Directors, you know.

Well, after Central Health's board makes its decision, Travis County Commissioner's Court will take the final votes on this proposed budget and tax rate increase sometime next week.

Could be as much as 12%.

And so you were just like, "Dude," and those [laughs] it always felt like you were talking to me on those spots that you would do.

You know, "ACC," you would always say.

[laughs] "Go get your education at ACC.

Finish your education." I'm like, I'm driving to work, I'm like, "Damn, I need to finish then." And then I started just enrolling, just started going hard.

I mean, grinding it out, finished it, and I was just like...

And that's just central health.

That's not Travis County and Austin and AISD and ACC on top of it all.

Capital Metro and others.

Eventually, everyone is going to be taxed out of Travis County and Austin.

That's not Austin.

That's not Travis County.

That's not AISD or ACC.

And they just continue to dig their hands into your pocket so deep they could tie your shoes.

So they can really get 12 months of experience of what it means to grow in Central Texas.

Listen, the Austin Community College District is off to a strong start for the new school year.

Officials say more than 44,000 students are enrolled in the fall semester.

representing about 6% more students than they did a year ago.

Well, this semester also marks the third group of incoming freshmen to take advantage of the no-cost tuition program.

They're seeing some increased numbers in advanced manufacturing up 21%, public and social services up 14%, applied technologies up 9%, business up 8%.

So things are booming at the Austin Community College.

So I'm looking here, because it's been a couple of years since the Board of Trustees approved that whole no-cost tuition thing for incoming Austin high school freshmen.
