Association for Middle Level Education

Yourself? I am fantastic because we have with us a guest who made a very brief appearance on State of Bed several years ago, but now we actually get to have a whole conversation just with her.

And we're so excited to have Katie Powell, who has spent her career on the two things that quietly drive kids out of learning, boredom and frustration she challenges educators to go one layer deeper into motivation and task avoidance which is exactly where ai now sits katie is the director of middle level programs at the association for middle level education where she leads the successful middle school program and works with schools and districts all over the country In the world of education, she has literally done it all from special education, Title I, instructional coach, including sixth grade ELA teacher in Crawfordsville, Indiana.

I was going to say go Hoosiers, but I remember from a prior conversation that I think she's not a Hoosiers fan, maybe more Purdue if memory serves.

She's the author of two books, Boredom Busters and Frustration Busters.

I'm going to be speaking and presenting at a number of places across Long Island.

I'll be in Nashville, Tennessee as a featured speaker at the AMLE conference.

I'm really honored by that opportunity.

Really just get a chance to work with and meet educators from throughout New York State, where we live, and then, of course, across the country.

I really, truly do.

And I'm excited because I know I'm going to see you at AMLE when we're in Nashville.

It's going to be awesome.

And Katie Kinder is going to be there, and I'm sure there'll be some others too.
