After timing the beeps for an hour, it beeped in irregular intervals.

We found this tiny Arduino board deep in one of my boxes labeled Annoying PCB.
Robert SawyerHOST

As pictured, Googled it, its literal sole purpose is to drive its victims insane.

Oh my goodness.

My co-founder, Rajan, ran a pilot in Hubli, a small town in the south, for 25 college students, exactly the type of students that we would want to target with InspiringEye, second tier from Universities would have never had a chance to build things before and as you can see in these photos, they came in, they brainstormed, had a brainstorming session with these colorful sticky notes as is the way with IDEO and Stanford leading the way for design thinking.
AnshulGUEST
11:05
They went through that process and then spent a lot of time in the field working with farmers in this case, and coming back to the lab and building with Arduinos and 3D printers solutions to those problems through that iterative approach.
AnshulGUEST
11:17
In my case, I ran a pilot in Bangalore working with younger students, teaching them how to build Android apps and to build businesses around those Android apps.

Here you can see a whiteboard of the topics that the students covered.

Wow, it took me a bit.

But using Python, Linux, my Raspberry Pi, and Arduino, I connected all these things to monitor my router.
Network ChuckHOST

And it was really fun, but it was a bit of work.

But nonetheless, so cool.

It's awesome.

But there is one thing I've always wanted to play with, and it's the Raspberry Pi's cousin, the Arduino.
Network ChuckHOST
1:11
Arduino is like Raspberry Pi, in fact, he looks very similar to the Raspberry Pi, but he's more focused on electronic things, if I can sum it up like that.

It shows how creativity trumps expense.
speaker_1UNKNOWN
3:48
If you're feeling tech savvy, a simple Arduino with a text-to-speech module can read out the wrong translations in real time, making your mislabels feel like an interactive performance piece.
speaker_1UNKNOWN

That layer of tech adds legitimacy to the faux alien persona.

Your interactions, where's the nearest recharge station? Or do I need to wear a gravity suit? invite people to participate, blurring the line between performer and audience, as if we're all tourists in this strange, festive world.
Anne Marie PiperGUEST
35:12
So again, this is a higher fidelity version of the interactive frame you saw earlier.
Anne Marie PiperGUEST
35:17
It has the Android tablet built into it and some Arduino buttons.
Anne Marie PiperGUEST
35:20
So we have our clickable buttons on the screen as well, which were quite important for at least these older adults we've worked with for reaching in and being able to take control of the interface.
Anne Marie PiperGUEST
35:30
But what's special here is that Again, very simple computer vision going on here.
Thomas R. GrossGUEST
32:13
Updates the firmware, that's all doable without much effort.
Thomas R. GrossGUEST
32:18
And so we then built basically two kinds of testbeds using this idea, mostly the LED light bulb-based ones, but also we built one using Arduino boards because they have one big benefit.
Thomas R. GrossGUEST
32:35
The Arduino boards have the big benefit that they work off much lower voltages.
Thomas R. GrossGUEST
32:43
Whenever you go into the power grid, you really ought to be somewhat concerned.
Thomas R. GrossGUEST
32:48
We have 220 volts in Europe, so we had actually almost had A kid played with that at a fair and wanted to use his hands to get into a lamp where we have our light bulbs in there.
Thomas R. GrossGUEST
33:03
Well, that's not a good idea.
Thomas R. GrossGUEST
33:04
So it's a lot easier to show that to persons and to let students work with it if you can use simple devices.
Thomas R. GrossGUEST
33:14
So basically, these Arduino devices we use for protocol development, we can give them to a student.
EricHOST
46:25
Most of your sensors like that are going to read voltage.
EricHOST
46:28
And you're going to have a little module... for that specific application that will convert the voltage to a signal that the Arduino.
EricHOST
46:39
So like for temperature sensors, you often connect a module to the Arduino.
EricHOST
46:44
It'll be like a couple pins.
EricHOST
46:47
And then with this, with these, you can actually hook a ton of temperature sensors to the same module.
EricHOST
47:25
The pressure sensors are just reading voltages.
EricHOST
47:27
There's different ways.
EricHOST
47:29
When you buy the sensors, they will have different communication protocols i usually go voltage because it's the easiest one of the things you could run into with voltage is if if you're doing something that inherently has a lot of electrical noise that can mess with the voltage signals so you might choose a different communication protocol for that but I know that like, as if you haven't done it, what I'm saying can probably just sound like a bunch of gobbledygook, but basically you connect different modules to the Arduino and then you connect your actual sensors to those modules and they send voltage readings and the Arduino as a program that essentially tells it how to decode the voltage signal into the sensor signal that you want to read.

AI, immersive communication, XR.
Amira AlloumGUEST
31:06
And more recently, as Arduino has joined the Qualcomm family, we provide also UNOQ and Ventuno platforms to embed AI into the platforms to the professors and the students.
Amira AlloumGUEST
31:24
So we have some... successful use case today as we are speaking.
Amira AlloumGUEST
31:30
I can give some example.
Aryan KaushikHOST
32:35
That's interesting, actually.
Aryan KaushikHOST
32:37
I mean, it depends on how feasible these things will be, but interesting to know that these are, you know, these are the directions that we are exploring.
Amira AlloumGUEST
32:47
And this was implemented on UNOQ Arduino and also Rubik Pi platform.
Aryan KaushikHOST
32:53

arduino's microcontrollers um but the the most important thing is the community of people that meet here always willing to share ideas show off what they're working on and really just kind of help buoy everyone else up in their in their projects and their goals

this thing i feel like i have to check out the electronic zone for myself some really cool stuff you mentioned there um so the center offers classes to help folks make the most of the facilities.
