Dr. Hoders also serves as visiting faculty at the University of Washington Graduate Periodontics Department and is an active member of the American Academy of Restorative Dentistry.

You sit in a very unique position in dentistry.

You systematically review the literature in periodontics and peri-implant tissues, as well as restorative literature for the American Academy of Restorative Dentistry.

And this gets published and disseminated.

So speaking of perio, Dr. Mia Geisinger, some people don't know who you are.

They don't know that you're the past president of the American Academy of Periodontology.

But Pam and I know who you are.

And now you have a new position.

I am the chair of the Department of Periodontology here at University of Alabama at Birmingham.

I'm the Phoebe Paul Candice Endowed Chair in Periodontics.

And I am the immediate past president of the AAP, which is the best job in show business because I can sit back and kind of watch the show and watch other people in the limelight, which is very nice.

And I've recently been tapped by the American Academy of Periodontology Foundation to to chair a new initiative that they have coming up that's really focusing on research and education in the oral systemic space.
