Henry HillGUEST
15:39
I think that another one for the Conservatives, especially if they were to take government anytime soon, would be that you should organize the state in general, but especially any outsourced bits of it around outcomes rather than giving them blocking powers.
Henry HillGUEST
15:53
So this is the thing that places like the Adam Smith Institute have written about.
Henry HillGUEST
15:56
Currently, there's what's called the vitocracy, which is essentially where you have lots of bits of the state that have the ability to impose costs and delays and blocks on the system, but then do not internalize themselves the cost of imposing those blocks and delays.

It says, by Newt Gingrich, who certainly likes commercial space, Zitelman has made a major contribution toward the thinking about the future of humans in space.
David LivingstonHOST

And then he's got quotes here from our friend at Harvard, who I need to get back on the show, the economist Matt Winsor, Zubrin, Madison Prides, president of the Adam Smith Institute, for those of you who know what that is, Jesus Huerta de Soto of the King Juan Carlos University in Madrid, Zhang, professor of economics at the Peking University, and Professor Hans-Werner Sinn, former president of the IFO Institute in Munich.
David LivingstonHOST

Neil SandersGUEST
35:14
And she also was going to privatize the NHS at the request of another Koch brothers owned industry called the Adam Smith Institute.

off of this
Neil SandersGUEST

because this would have been like political suicide for at the time although she did try again and it was again sort of rebuffed and then a year later in 1983 she introduced the griffiths bill which basically introduced middle managers into um the the national health service rather than physicians making decisions and this is the sort of slippery slope towards the privatization that um america wants to introduce basically now you know did wilbur ross the chamber of commerce Woody Johnson the UK ambassador and Donald Trump have all said basically yeah we want to get in there we want to basically get our pharmaceutical companies in the NHS which would go against the point of having the National Alliance Health Service it would basically make it far more expensive for UK citizens but as we said the entire Reagan doctrine was based on recommendations from the Heritage Foundation here's one Obamacare was based on recommendations from the Heritage Foundation and The Clinton policy of removing people from welfare or PRWRA was Heritage Foundation policy.
Neil SandersGUEST
36:31
And I think you've noticed that Trump is going to start taking lots of people off food stamps soon as well.
Neil SandersGUEST

Yaron BrookHOST

and so on, so the think tanks, you know, places like Cato, and probably, you know, Mises.org, some of it, some of it not, but certainly Fee, and FIRE, and IEA, and the Adam Smith Institute, and there's like a dozen, probably here just in London, of these kind of free market leaning think tanks, and just look at British politics, and don't look at the labor movement right now, look at Look at what happened during Boris Johnson's tenure as the Conservative Party head.
Yaron BrookHOST
10:45
